"Layla Layla" and "Bird on a wire", accompagnied on piano by Matthias Stötzel.

Gala zur Eröffnung der Spielzeit 2023-2024

Im Herbst 2002 besuchte Thomas Collien eine Vorstellung von Ulrich Wallers legendärer Inszenierung „Die Jungs mit dem Tüdelband“ in den Kammerspielen und lud sie spontan ins St. Pauli Theater auf die Reeperbahn ein. Aus diesem sehr erfolgreichen Gastspiel entwickelte sich ab Sommer 2003 eine dauerhafte Zusammenarbeit und damit auch eine programmatische Neuausrichtung des Hauses.

Schon deshalb soll die Gala zur Eröffnung der Spielzeit 2023/24 auch eine ganz besondere sein. Denn die Neuausrichtung – die Wandlung von einem Gastspieltheater zu einem produzierenden Haus – war der Startschuss einer Serie bemerkenswerter Eigenproduktionen, die bundesweit sehr viel Aufmerksamkeit fanden und finden. Das erfolgreiche Konzept wurde bis heute beibehalten: Intelligente Unterhaltung auf dem Kiez, mit den Besten ihrer Kunst. Dabei immer wieder im Fokus: Hamburg und St. Pauli, was das renommierte und geschichtsträchtige Haus auf der Reeperbahn unverwechselbar in der Hamburger Theaterszene macht.

Das möchten wir feiern, gemeinsam mit Wegbegleitern, Schauspielern und Sängerinnen aus dieser aufregenden und an Erfolgen reichen Zeit und natürlich zusammen mit Ihnen, unserem Publikum.

In the fall of 2002, Thomas Collien attended a performance of Ulrich Waller's legendary production of "Die Jungs mit dem Tüdelband" at the Kammerspiele and spontaneously invited them to the St. Pauli Theater on the Reeperbahn. From the summer of 2003, this very successful guest performance developed into a lasting collaboration and thus also a programmatic reorientation of the theater.

For this reason alone, the gala for the opening of the 2023/24 season will be a very special one. For the reorientation - the transformation from a guest theater to a producing house - was the starting signal for a series of remarkable in-house productions that have attracted and continue to attract a great deal of attention nationwide. The successful concept has been maintained to this day: Intelligent entertainment on the Kiez, with the best of their art. The focus is always on Hamburg and St. Pauli, which makes the renowned and historic house on the Reeperbahn unmistakable in the Hamburg theater scene.

We would like to celebrate this together with companions, actors and singers from this exciting and successful time and of course together with you, our audience.
